This thing is pretty awesome, it works exactly as described. Hook up a propane tank to it and watch the flames go, the flames don't shoot out far enough to be uncontrollable. Besides being a cool flame gun it also has some practical uses like clearing out dried weeds, starting a bonfire, or like I use it for which is for Shou sugi ban also known as yakisugi which is burning the outside of wood. I do this for the charred look and also to help it get a flame retardant finish. I usually seal the wood afterwords with linseed oil. This is a dangerous piece of equipment so be sure to follow instructions and don’t store the gun with the propane attached.

This is unmistakably not a toy and is not safe to use without the proper safety precautions and common sense. Yes, it does look like a toy rifle and does feel fun to use but it is putting out some serious heat. It was easy to install the propane tank and ignite the flame. Then there's a dial to help adjust the strength of the flame output. It's very intuitive to use and not too heavy to handle. I tested this on a couple of steaks and it performed well. The steaks were cooked well and developed a nice char on the outside due to the intense heat while maintaining a medium rare inside. I also used it on some weeds around my yard. It did burn them up but there was also a lot of debris so I wanted to be careful about not creating too big of a burn area or fire. It easily took care of the weeds that were among rocks and cracks in pavement. Overall it's a functional tool and can be used easily and safely. Storage is a little questionable because it's a bit odd shaped and I don't want me kids to be able to get to it.

I love this torch—it feels sturdy and well-built. It’s very intuitive to use: just slightly open the valve and press the ignition trigger, and you’re good to go. I’ve already used it three times to sear steaks, and it works perfectly as a finishing touch. I’ve even gotten compliments from dinner guests! It’s also been handy for starting a fire in my fire pit.

Now this propane touch is a great ice breaker, literally! Not only does it get everyone's attention when using it to start a bonfire, it excels at melting ice! I used this Torch various times to melt down ice this winter and it works very well! It does use up propane rather quickly, so be warned. Otherwise, awesome product and well worth the price!

I got this because when I saw it I had to have it. For the cost this thing is great. I mostly got it so I can look like a fool when I light my fire pit. Which it does a great job of doing. It is basically like a large light. You pull the trigger and it clicks like a grill would and it lights the flame. You release and the flame goes out. Seems pretty safe to me. My wife thought I was dumb to get it, but then I lit that fire pretty quickly, so whose laughing now. Anyways, I think this would be a great gift for anyone that have a fire pit.

Do I need a massive Multi use propane torch that looks this cool... that shoots flames out several feet, that can start camp fires in seconds or put a char on a steak while feeling like you are in an action movie? YES! YES! YES! I need this lol this thing checks all the boxes is it fun to use YES! is it massive and aggressive looking YES! Is the flame strength suitable for killing any weed, and charing a half dozen steaks at once YES! lol is it functional? can I use it for more things than I can easily think of YES! is it worth he money lol Absolutely!! if you know anyone that likes to grill, camp, or just wants to burn weeds get it you already know they will love this thing! whole heartedly I approve this with every bit of the giant kid in me.

Five stars. Not only for the fun it creates, but for the quality and design. Great gift idea. We’re gonna use ours a lot on the property and for our fire pit, but I’m definitely not gonna be searing steaks with it or finishing off my crème brûlée with it like the instructions suggest. This should be good for camping supplies and also to take along in the RV. It works awesome has several different measurements of flame.

I was looking for something to sear steaks with on the grill. I use a pellet grill to cook ribeyes which doesn't give any crust, but a 20 second blast from this bad boy and that's all she wrote. Perfect crust on a perfect steak. The torch gun itself is really neat. It's a high quality plastic shell around a propane torch but it puts out a lot of fire and heat and is a fun and whimsical way to do it. The adjustable flame works great and it makes getting the perfect sear a cinch. I'm sure it would work great on weeds and things, too. I couldn't be more pleased and everyone loves when I cook steaks. 5-stars.

I ordered this propane torch to help me burn brush piles periodically throughout the year. I’m constantly using containers full of charcoal lighter fluid to burn brush piles so I thought I would give this cool flamethrower a try. I purchased a standard 16oz green propane tank from the box store sporting goods department. It threaded on very smoothly to the fitting on the torch. The threads were cut well and the tank sealed tight with no leaks. There is a knob on top of the torch that controls gas flow. I turn it to the left and pull the trigger to spark the flame. The flame thrower fired up instantly which is a good indicator of quality. The maximum temperature of the flame is 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit according to the box the product comes in. I tested the flame thrower by aiming it at a seasoned log in my fire pit. I set the adjustment dial to the middle position and the torch ignited the log within seconds. I then moved the torch to some of the dry sticks and branches and the whole pile was going immediately. I am extremely impressed. I didn’t have any green or wet logs to try it out on. To have a little fun I turned the flamethrower to the maximum setting and fried some moss on my driveway. I estimate I had an intense flame shooting out at least a foot. This torch is fun to use but obviously it is not for kids. Be sure to read the instructions and warnings that come with it. This torch is a great value for the money. It is going to save me a lot by not having to buy lighter fluid. I can recommend this flamethrower based on its quality and usefulness.

Just to be clear this is a propane torch, not a flamethrower. It is shaped and looks like a gun but does not shoot flames. There is a trigger for igniting the flame only, and then an adjustable knobs on top to adjust the flame output. Overall a well built and quality piece. It looks and feels great and works flawlessly right out of the box. It is made of plastic but appears durable. This is to be used with the small canister style propane tanks. Simply screw a full one on and you're ready to go. I intend to use it when camping to start campfires as well as burn weeds.

Gets the job done but worth knowing how it works before you buy. The torch does produce a solid adjustable flame and works well for BBQ, camping, charcoal lighting and general shop use — no complaints there. But the build quality feels a bit cheap in the hand, and the gas flow design caught me off guard. The trigger is only for ignition — the gas itself flows continuously based on the dial on top, meaning once you open that dial, the gas is flowing whether you're holding the trigger or not. I was expecting it to work like a trigger-release design where gas only flows when you squeeze, so just be aware of that going in. With that heads up, it's a decent functional torch for the price — just manage your expectations on the build and understand the gas flow before you light it up. That's probably why this flame thrower is made to look like a cool rifle. Then again, the main body of this flamethrower does feel like a plastic tool gun. Only the torch part where the flame comes out and where you connect the propane tank is made of metal. But for the price of $39, I wasn't expecting it to made the whole thing to be made of high quality metal. But seriously, it's not a toy. You can hurt yourself and others. It's a serious tool. It's a propane torch gun that has serious uses like cooking a steam or some other animal. Burning paint off metal surfaces. Or for woodworking where you want the wood to have a burn finish. Or having a BBQ and needing to light up the coal. Or getting rid of weed and overgrown vegetation. See. Lots of uses for this serious tool. Also handy when there are aliens or zombies to kill.

This has been a fun flame throwing device, but is a little different than what I expected. The knob on the top controls the flame intensity and is used to also shut the torch down. The trigger on the back is used for the piezoelectric igniter. I was expecting the trigger to both release the gas and ignite similar to braising torches for soldering plumbing pipes. This operates differently, which is fine but doesn’t have a turn off when you release the trigger. Otherwise, the forming is very well defined than the regulator has an in trouble feeding the amount of propane necessary to produce a large flame, capable of igniting your charcoal or hardwood fire at the campground. You possibly could use this to put a good or crust on meat, but I have relegated this to the campsite for starting fires with less than optimal, seasoned wood.

It takes the theme of a huge flame, and it pretends that this torch is something like a flamethrower, although this torch does not have the liability of actually throwing fire for long distances. It is a big flame, for whatever a person feels the want of need of that. The torch is fashioned something like a rifle, making it something of a toy as well as something with practical uses. The fun part of this product is innocuous, since the user should be a thinking and responsible person in fact, though still able to enjoy a monster torch. But when it comes to performance, I would wish to mention that this product does not seem quite so well made as some. The valve, if turned off too tightly, rotates in its home position. When opening that valve, it does not immediately release propane; it needs to be turned almost a quarter turn on the item that I received before gas flows. That inability to expect a reliable function from the valve is my only real complaint, merely because a good valve does work predictably. In all other respects, this is a big torch, to be used as one wishes for lots of heat, and it works pretty well. When using a compact propane tank, it should be known that, when opened full blast, the tank becomes cold and empties quickly. How all that gas and heat is used is of course for the user to decide.

Really cool and fun to use propane torch. Hook it to a 1 pound propane cylinder, turn the knob until you hear gas, and squeeze the trigger. High quality plastic seems to hold up well.
